We came to Otavalo for the world-famous textile market. We
were not able to make the big market day which is Saturday, however we didn't
care. The day is special because it is the only day for the animal market. The
thought of seeing those poor animals tied up awaiting their horrific fate
wasn't appealing to us. We simply wanted to purchase a few textiles for our
little home back in Australia and any day of the week is just fine for that. We
enjoyed wandering around and checking out the different textile offerings at
the market and we also appreciated the town's laid-back feel. Complete with a
hole-in-the-wall coffee spot that served a delicious brew, we were pretty happy
with our four days in this town.
