El Penon de Guatalupe was such a wonderful surprise. Once
again Pinterest was the motivation behind this one. Months ago, Kassandra had pinned a photo of the giant rock known
as El Penon de Guatape and we knew it was a place we had to visit.
After the 700 steps up the incredible rock, we were rewarded
with amazing views of the surrounding puebla. We had expected all of the - the steps, the views etc - but we
had not known that the little town of El Penon de Guatalupe was so darn cute.
We felt like we were in some kind of candy land when we arrived. The place is
painted with such cheerful and bright colours, and each house is decorated with
adorable molded images of sunflowers, sheep, cars and little workmen (just to
name a few). We were totally unprepared for the town's quaint appearance and
kind, inviting local people. We ran around taking silly pictures in absolute
excitement while we made the most of the diminishing daylight hours. If we had
of known that this little place was so rad, we definitely would have stayed a
night or two.
