San Jose del Pacifico has been one of our favourite stops so far. We arrived in this little one-street-wonder after a bus ride which took five hours Mexican time (which is seven hours in actual time). A friend of ours from Mexico city told us to stay at Casa del Catalina. After looking it up online, we came to the conclusion that we just had to ask someone in town as to the hostel's whereabouts. After a few misleading directions and a little hike up a hill, we found the little green house and all of it's wonderfully accommodating hippy inhabitants. While we sat on the rainbow painted bench of the balcony overlooking the misty hills, we saw some familiar faces - friends of ours from Burning Man. We hugged and jumped about and the next few days were just a blur of mescal sipping, dream-catcher making, communal meal scoffing, jungle trekking, tlayuda eating, hot chocolate drinking, time-lapse dancing, cigar smoking, temazcal sweating.... goodness. Definitely one to remember.
